Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma on Friday apologised for allegedly using abusive language on stage at the DAV College, Dehradun, during his performance.Haryana State Women Commission had even summoned him to appear on April 18 over the incident.Sharma, who was in Chandigarh to promote his movie, ‘Licence’, said, “I apologise for the incident. Those have been hurt over my utterances, I apologise to them.”He added, “My mental state was not right that time. A day before, I had been threatened by a person known to me. He had threatened the family that to get my insurance done for Rs 20-25 crore, and that he would not be allowed to come back from Dehradun. The family was disturbed too.”He further informed that a reply had been sent to the Women Commission and he was not likely to appear before the Commission on April 18. “I will wait for the next direction from the Commission,” he added.“A complaint has been sent to the Uttarakhand police via email regarding the threat made to my life,” he said. He refused to name the person who threatened him, but said that he knew him.Sharma is being provided security by Haryana police.When questioned about his controversies and usage of negative publicity to remain in the news, he replied, “I have never apologised earlier. I have only apologised for the Dehradun college controversy. I have reached to this position because of my songs, not because of negative publicity.”Sharma had delivered a live performance at the DAV College in Dehradun on April 11, which was also attended by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. However, after the CM left the venue, Sharma allegedly lost his temper and used objectionable language on stage, leaving police personnel, college staff, and students uncomfortable.“It has come to the notice of the Commission that during a recent program held at DAV College, Dehradun, you allegedly used abusive language and indulged in conduct unbecoming of a public figure. And whereas such acts, if proven, are a matter of serious concern, particularly in the context of maintaining dignity, decency, and respect towards women in society,” read the notice issued to Sharma on April 12 by the Women Commission.
