The Hoshiarpur police have arrested three alleged members of a gang for vandalising a statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at Nurpur Jattan village in Hoshiarpur district on March 30 night.Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Malik said unidentified persons vandalised glass panels installed around the statue and “desecrated” that on March 30-31 night. Special teams were constituted to crack the case, he added.“Using a combination of human intelligence and technical analysis, the police cracked the case,” Malik said. An iron rod and a mobile phone were found during the investigation, he added.Those arrested were identified as Gurkirat Singh of Baddiyan Kalan, Babandeep Singh of Ranjit Nagar in SAS Nagar and Sahilpreet Singh of Ghatour in SAS Nagar district.During preliminary questioning, the accused said they committed the act after being lured with money by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of the Sikhs for Justice.
