Two Indian men were shot in Italy’s Covo in the Bergamo province as they were leaving a warehouse used as a place of worship during a gathering for Baisakhi, local media reported on Sunday.The attack occurred on Friday, a few minutes before midnight, in the square in front of Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji in the town’s industrial area, according to the La Sicilia newspaper.The deceased have been identified as Raginder Singh (48), a resident of Covo, and Gurmit Singh (48) from Agnadello.The assailant allegedly approached the victims, opened fire and then fled in a car, the report said.According to the report of an initial investigation, officials have ruled out the possibility of a sudden brawl escalating into violence. Around 10 shell casings were recovered from the scene as authorities probe the possibility of a “coldly planned execution”.A witness was quoted as saying that the shooter was “an Indian” who also reportedly often seen visiting the gurdwara.According to the same witness, a third person was grazed by the bullets.An official said Baisakhi celebration had been planned nearby for Saturday, with the participation of local institutions.
