Punjabi novelist Wazir Singh Randhawa and Manmohan Singh Dhillon were on Sunday elected president and patron of Punjabi writers’ organisation Janvadi Lekhak Sangh, respectively.They were elected during a meeting of the sangh organised at a local school in Amritsar. During the meeting, the newly published novel “Main Thareh Aavangi” by Sikh thinker and writer Ikwak Singh Patti was released. Short-story writer Deep Devinder Singh, while welcoming the scholars, recalled the contributions of late literary duo of poet Dev Dard and writer Talwinder Singh in taking the literary society to new heights.Society secretary Sumit Singh shed light on the activities and commitments of the sangh and the members unanimously elected columnist Manmohan Singh Dhillon as the patron of the society. Novelist Wazir Singh Randhawa was elected to the post of president.Principal Kulwant Singh Ankhi congratulated both the writers encouraged them to organise the next literary event. Makhan Bhainiwal sung the song ‘Neeli Chhat Wala Saade Kam Karda’, while Gurjit Kaur Ajnala, Raminderjit Kaur, Paramjit Kaur, Jaswant Gill, Ikwak Singh Patti and Angrez Singh Virdi added colour to the performance with their own compositions. On the occasion, Mohit Sehdev and Kashmir Singh thanked all the members of the society.
