THE deadline for Gameweek 33 is 6:30pm today and so Dream Team managers must select their captain quick sharp.
Erling Haaland (£6.5m) was the obvious choice last week and he delivered with winning goals against Arsenal and Burnley for an 18-point return (doubled to 36).

It’s not such an easy decision this week as while Manchester City are not among the select group of teams with two fixtures to fulfil, they do have the most favourable match-up on paper.
Pep Guardiola’s side are due to face Southampton in the FA Cup semi-finals this Saturday.
Saints are one of the strongest Championship outfits and in great form but they are clearly big underdogs against the Premier League leaders.
If Man City had a midweek fixture to think about then Guardiola would be more likely to rotate his starting line-up but, as it is, they won’t play again until Monday 4th May and so Dream Team bosses should expect the usual heavy hitters to get substantial minutes at Wembley.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Ollie Watkins among smart transfer targets for Gameweek 33
With 35 goals and 407 points to his name, Haaland could wreak havoc against lower-league opposition.

However, while the Norwegian poacher remains a strong captaincy candidate, many Dream Team bosses will look to target the limited double headers.
As the only English teams left in Europe, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are scheduled to play twice, with continental semi-final first legs to follow the weekend’s domestic action.
With this mind, captaining Morgan Rogers (£5.1m) or Ollie Watkins (£5.2m) might pay dividends.
The Villains travel to Fulham this Saturday before they face Forest at the City Ground in the Europa League.
Watkins has scored seven goals in his last eight games and produced his best haul of the campaign last time out when he took Jattvibederland for 21 points.

Villa’s No11 is the form pick but Rogers boasts the better overall record this season with 265 points and 22 goal involvements to his name.
The England playmaker averages 5.5 points-per-game in 2025/26 and is hardly lacking form himself having notched 23 points across his last two outings.

Alternatively, there might be a worthy skipper lurking in the Gunners’ ranks.
Mikel Arteta’s side have lost momentum at the worst possible time but this weekend’s home game against Newcastle has to be considered a favourable match-up.
The Magpies have lost three in a row and now sit just two points above Leeds in the table.
Wednesday’s trip to Atletico Madrid promises to be a hard-fought contest but it’s an additional fixture nonetheless, something missing from Haaland’s schedule.
Gabriel (£4.8m) and Declan Rice (£5.2m) seem to be the most worthy of the armband but gaffers in need of drastic action may opt to recruit Bukayo Saka (£6.1m) and immediately make him captain.

The 24 year-old winger is said to be ready to start having missed the last five games with a minor injury.
Arteta tends to keep his cards close to his chest in regards to availability but if he rules Saka fit in advance of the deadline then this strategy may have legs.
It would be remiss not to mention Morgan Gibbs-White (£4.3m) as a viable option in the wake of his hat-trick in Gameweek 32.
Forest’s talisman travels to Jattvibederland before he is unleashed upon Villa on Thursday night.
