Senior BJP leader Parvesh Verma on Saturday accused Delhi’s former CM and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of being linked to a ‘lavish’ property in Delhi’s Lodhi Road, questioning the source of funds used in its development.Addressing a press conference, Verma presented what he claimed were layout plans and interior design documents of a residence at 95 Lodhi Estate, allegedly connected to Kejriwal. The documents outlined a ‘contemporary transitional’ design concept and detailed spaces including a foyer, living room, bedrooms, lounge, and meeting room, along with customised furniture and décor elements.Targeting Kejriwal’s political positioning, Verma alleged that his image as an ‘aam aadmi’ was misleading.“He did not want an ordinary house, but a lavish one,” Verma said, reviving the BJP’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ allegations regarding the Chief Minister’s official residence. He also made sharp remarks, invoking leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh, and claimed they would be ‘ashamed’ of such conduct. Linking the issue to governance, Verma alleged that during the Covid-19 crisis, Kejriwal was missing while constructing his residence. He further claimed internal dissent within AAP, suggesting leaders were leaving due to what he described as a “lavish lifestyle.” Posing four questions, Verma asked about the total expenditure and funding source of the Lodhi Estate property, whether such spending was driving party exits, the need for repeated Sheesh Mahals, and alleged links between the property and proceeds of the now-scrapped liquor policy case.Responding to the allegations, Delhi minister Atishi Marlena dismissed the claims, posting on her X, she said, “All the pictures released by Parvesh Verma are fake. They are not pictures of Kejriwal ji’s house.” She added that if there are questions about luxury, “Rekha Gupta ji and LG sahib should open their own houses, and Kejriwal ji will open his house. The public will decide for itself.”
