Former deputy chief minister of Punjab and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, citing his experience, claimed that the AAP government in Punjab will not survive, and that President’s Rule will be imposed in the coming days. He alleged that AAP fears losing power, which is why it has “dramatised” a special Vidhan Sabha session on Labour Day.Under its cover, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is planning to conduct a floor test to save the government. He further claimed that the Chief Minister is aware that several of his MLAs are in touch with BJP, and may switch sides. He added that no one has approached him, and no Congress MP or MLA is going to join BJP. Congress leaders have no need to switch, and the condition of those who left earlier is well known.Randhawa said the government should focus on saving Punjab instead of saving its power and ensure strong security arrangements for the people. Referring to the explosion on the Rajpura-Shambhu railway track, he said it has endangered Punjab’s peace and communal harmony. He questioned the Chief Minister after a supporter of MP Amritpal Singh’s party was reportedly named in connection with the blast.Randhawa asked the Chief Minister to explain why and on whose advice the National Security Act (NSA) was removed from Amritpal Singh. He said such an incident occurring soon after his release is alarming and signals danger. He termed it a failure of both central and state agencies. He warned that the nexus between extremists and gangsters poses a serious threat to Hindu-Sikh unity in Punjab and must be broken to save the state. He also demanded that central investigation agencies conduct a thorough probe into the alleged links between Bapu Tarseem Singh and the deceased accused in the blast. He urged authorities to verify viral photographs and take action against all those involved to prevent future threats and curb extremist elements.Criticising CM Mann, Randhawa said that despite such a major explosion, the CM did not visit the site. He should have gone to the spot and convened an emergency meeting immediately, but failed to do so.He further targeted DGP Gaurav Yadav, calling him “spineless”, and said law and order in Punjab has deteriorated under his leadership. He claimed that conditions resembling terrorism are re-emerging, citing recent railway blasts as evidence. He urged the DGP to take decisive steps to restore law and order. On the issue of ‘Operation Lotus’, Randhawa questioned why no investigation or chargesheet has been filed despite complaints by minister Harpal Cheema and AAP MLAs alleging attempts to poach them. He asked that if the allegations were false, why no action has been taken against Cheema under the relevant legal provisions.Reacting strongly to AAP leaders calling their Rajya Sabha MPs “traitors”, Randhawa said traitors have betrayed their own.He added that many AAP leaders were previously part of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) or Congress and now hold ministerial or leadership positions in the AAP government.Randhawa clarified that rumours about former chief minister Charanjit Channi and other Congress MPs being in touch with BJP were false, and no Congress MP will leave the party. However, he said there is turmoil within AAP.
