Bringing essential healthcare closer to vulnerable communities, three mobile medical ambulances have begun serving high‑risk areas across Ludhiana.Equipped to provide primary care and emergency support, these units aim to bridge the gap for residents who often struggle to access timely medical services. The initiative has been launched by Hans Foundation in collaboration with the Landmark Group, marking a significant step in their joint commitment towards improving community health. By pooling resources and expertise, the two organisations seek to strengthen healthcare delivery in under-served pockets of the district. This initiative, which is supposed to run for one year, is focused on providing basic healthcare services to those in need. Each mobile medical ambulance will have a qualified doctor and trained paramedical staff, offering on-the-spot check-ups, basic tests, and early diagnosis of diseases.“Each van will visit two locations daily and will revisit the same areas every 15 days, ensuring continuous health monitoring. The campaign will especially focus on brick kiln workers, daily wage labourers, and residents of slum areas, for whom access to healthcare services remains difficult. This initiative aims to deliver healthcare services directly to them,” said Civil Surgeon, Dr Ramandeep Kaur.Medical teams will place special emphasis on early detection, prevention and awareness of diseases.“The launch of these mobile medical ambulances is a commendable step toward strengthening healthcare services at the grassroots level. Many people, especially those living in brick kiln areas and slums, often miss timely treatment. This effort will help bring healthcare services closer to them,” added Kaur.Early detection of diseases is very important, as it enables timely treatment. This collaboration will play an important role in building a healthier and more inclusive society.Dinesh Dhamun, Assistant Manager, Hans Foundation said, “These ambulances are about reaching people where they are, ensuring that even the most vulnerable communities have access to timely medical care”.Deepak Kumar, Manager, Landmark Foundation further added, “Our role is to strengthen the delivery system making sure the services are not just launched, but sustained and effective for those who need them most.”Satyajit Sarkar, Project Coordinator, “The idea behind this initiative is simple but powerful — healthcare should not be a privilege limited to those living near hospitals. By mobilising medical services, we are bridging a critical gap for families in high‑risk areas. These ambulances are equipped to handle primary care and emergencies, and they represent a commitment to dignity, accessibility, and community well‑being”.
