The chain has launched a huge closing down sale to help shift stock before it shuts for good, according to the Watford Observer.

The news has come as a blow to locals, with one describing it as “such a shame”.

Meanwhile, another disappointed shopper said: “Very sad. Blame all the people who would rather shop online.”

The store will shut for good on June 5, the outlet said, giving customers just a few weeks to say their goodbyes.

It marks the end of a near three-year stint at the shopping centre, with the branch first opening in May 2023.

The retail industry is currently battling significant headwinds as shoppers change their habits and costs soar.

Brands have been hit hard by rising costs, inflation, and changing shopping habits, as budget-conscious customers increasingly turn to online platforms like Amazon and Temu.

Other major names including Poundland have been forced to close a significant number of shops, while rival Poundstretcher recently unveiled a restructuring plan to trigger swingeing rent cuts.

Elsewhere, Barretts of Woodbridge in Suffolk is set to close down on May 7.

Meanwhile, popular shoe brand Mostyn McKenzie closed its final location on Saturday, May 2.

All other Mostyn McKenzie stores have already closed, with the business shutting its flagship Aberdeen branch in 2023.
