Authorities believe he died of heatstroke after being trapped inside the car for more than 12 hours.

According to reports, his mother returned from a party shortly after midnight, went inside, and fell asleep.

She forgot he was still strapped in his car seat as temperatures quickly rose the next day.

Emergency services were called to Capellania Avenue in La Rioja Residencial at around 1:30pm after a woman raised the alarm.

When officers arrived, they found a woman carrying Vicente, claiming he was not responding.

Paramedics rushed to the scene where they confirmed there were no signs of life.

Forensic experts later determined Vicente had suffered severe heat exposure.

Burns were found on his arms and legs, caused by contact with hot surfaces and extreme temperatures inside the car.

Forensic Medical Service head Cesar Gonzalez Vaca said an autopsy found no signs of physical violence.

Investigators believe the boy may have died between 9am and 10am, as temperatures climbed above 33°C.

He was described as being of healthy weight and size for his age.

The boy’s father later claimed on social media that Vicente had been forgotten while his mother was under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities have not confirmed this detail.

Prosecutors from the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Locals have called for the case to be investigated as a possible case of neglect.

This is not the first time a child has died after being left in an unattended vehicle.

In June, a one-year-old boy died after his mother left him in a scorching hot car while she got lip fillers.

Maya Hernandez, 20, reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

She will spend a maximum of 15 years in prison after her first-degree murder charge was downgraded to involuntary manslaughter.

Hernandez left her two children in 46°C for over two hours while she got cosmetic injections.
