A local court in Patiala on Thursday extended the police remand of AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra by another four days in connection with an illegal mining case registered against him and his associates.Pathanmajra, who was lodged in the Bathinda jail in a rape case, was brought to Patiala on production warrant on May 5. He was initially sent to two-day remand by the court. On Thursday, the police again produced the MLA before the court and sought an extension of remand for further investigation. The court allowed four more days of the police custody.The police maintained that they needed to recover a poclain machine allegedly used in illegal mining activities and seize certain documents linked to the case.The case was registered by the Julkan police on September 5, 2025, under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 21(1) and 4(1) of the Mines and Minerals Act. The FIR was lodged days after Pathanmajra allegedly evaded arrest on September 2, 2025, from the residence of a relative at Dabri village in Karnal district.A first-time legislator representing the Sanaur segment in Patiala district, Pathanmajra was arrested in a rape case on March 24 from the outskirts of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.In the rape case, he was kept in the police custody before being sent to judicial custody, which was later extended by another 14 days in April.
