Announcing the news on Truth Social, Trump added: “This Ceasefire will include a suspension of all kinetic activity, and also a prison swap of 1,000 prisoners from each Country.
“Hopefully, it is the beginning of the end of a very long, deadly, and hard fought War.
“Talks are continuing on ending this Major Conflict, the biggest since World War II, and we are getting closer and closer every day.”
Russia has warned Ukraine not to try to attack the Victory Day parade in Red Square on Saturday.
Its defence ministry has threatened to launch a “retaliatory, massive missile strike” on the centre of Kyiv if Moscow is attacked.
And the Kremlin also warned foreign diplomats to leave the Ukrainian capital ahead of May 9.
It was earlier speculated that Putin was “physically scared for his life” ahead of Russia’s flagship Victory Day Parade.
The reclusive tyrant had made a humiliating climbdown on plans for the annual event on Moscow’s Red square – fearing Ukrainian drone strikes and or being “eaten alive” by fed-up opposition.
