The exercise was aimed at ensuring speedy, cost-effective and amicable resolution of disputes while reducing pendency before courts. The Authority said several disputes pending for more than a decade were also settled during the proceedings, resulting in substantial decongestion of court dockets across the state. Banking institutions, insurance companies, government departments and litigants participated in large numbers in the settlement process.Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra appreciated the efforts of judicial officers, District Legal Services Authorities and volunteers for ensuring the successful conduct of the Lok Adalat proceedings across Punjab. The Punjab State Legal Services Authority also acknowledged the cooperation extended by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, District Legal Services Authorities, judicial officers, members of the Bar, police authorities and civil administration in organising the mega settlement drive.
