A 47-year-old woman was shot dead in broad daylight outside her residence in Sector 9 here on Friday afternoon. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area, and the police launched an intensive investigation to trace the accused.The deceased has been identified as Dimple Arora, who was working with UHBVN. According to the police, she had reportedly come home during her lunch break when the incident took place.According to the initial investigation, Dimple reached her residence and parked her scooter outside her house. Moments later, a man on a motorcycle, who was allegedly following her, opened fire at her from close range. She was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead.The murder created tension in the locality as residents gathered outside the victim’s house after hearing about the incident. Police teams, including forensic experts, reached the spot soon after receiving information and began collecting evidence from the crime scene.SP Narender Bijarniya reached the spot and directed police teams to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest.“The woman was shot dead by an unidentified person. CCTV footage from nearby houses is being examined to trace the movements of the attacker and determine the motive behind the murder. Teams have been constituted to solve the case,” said SP Bijarniya.Preliminary visuals from CCTV footage reportedly show the assailant following the victim before carrying out the attack and fleeing immediately after firing. Police suspect the incident may have been pre-planned. Angles including personal rivalry and other disputes are being investigated.The body has been sent for the postmortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
