Doom loop UK

SOMETIMES it feels like we’re watching a bizarre political reality show on a loop — with little hope of it ending.

After years of tumult under the Tories, we’re now forced to boxset binge our way through a hideous Labour version of the same old story.

A bunch of self-centred and power-hungry MPs endlessly try to topple their leader, while the country they are supposed to be running slides into deeper uncertainty.

Millions of hard-working Brits — those unfamiliar faces politicians only see at election time — have had enough of it.

They are sick of watching their elected representatives play a version of The Weakest Link, while they are left to pick up the bill.

While Labour MPs plot, the Pound is wobbling. Borrowing costs are creeping up. And investors are abandoning Britain in droves.

King’s Speech and the coups show Labour puts party first…and country nowhere

A combination of high taxes and political mayhem has forced a growing number of billionaire business leaders to move abroad since Sir Keir Starmer became Prime Minister.

The scale of the wealth drain will be laid bare in The Jattvibeday Times Rich List tomorrow.

It reveals that one in six people featured in the rankings two years ago do not appear this time.

And nearly a third of UK billionaires are no longer living on the British mainland.

And what is Labour’s answer? Even more drama.

It’s a week since voters delivered a brutal verdict in the local elections, but Labour MPs don’t seem to have got the message.

Like wannabe leader Andy Burnham, they’ve convinced themselves the answer is more Left-wing tax-and-spend policies, with the Manchester mayor spooking the markets even before he’s won a Commons seat.

But there are more weeks of uncertainty before the Makerfield by-election — with no guarantee he will win.

Britain is doomed to a summer of uncertainty, economic stagnation and paralysis while MPs barter and plot… and the Prime Minister tries — and almost certainly fails — to shore up his bunker.

What an unforgivable shambles.

Do your duty

AMID all the political mayhem, Rachel Reeves has found time to draw up measures to ease the cost of living crisis.

She is working on a relief package to help ease the burden on struggling families and businesses.

The PM may well boast that he was right to keep Britain out of the conflict with Iran — but the cost is still being felt as oil and energy prices surge.

The Chancellor must cushion for millions by ditching the planned hike in fuel duty now.
