In a major breakthrough in the murder case of woman clerk at UHBVN, Dimple Arora (47), the Karnal police on late Jattvibeday evening arrested an accused after a brief exchange of fire on Indri road. The accused — identified as Vikas alias Sanju, a resident of Ladwa in Kurukshetra district — sustained two bullet injuries in his back and was later admitted to the District Civil Hospital for treatment, where his condition is said to be out of danger.Vikas is a shooter and a parole jumper in a murder case registered in Kurukshetra.Though police have not officially confirmed the motive behind the murder, sources in the police claimed that Dimple was allegedly killed due to a dispute with a neighbour, who hired Vikas for killing her.Giving details, DSP Rajiv Kumar said that CIA-1 team led by inspector Sandeep Singh received information that the person involved in the murder of Dimple was present on a link road connecting Karna Lake and Indri road.Acting on the tip-off, the police team reached the spot and when they signaled him to stop, he allegedly opened fire on the team. The police then retaliated.Soon after the incident, SP Narender Bijarniya, along with DSP Rajiv Kumar, DSP Sandeep, officials from Sadar police station and the forensic team, reached the site to inspect the area and collect evidence.Dimple was shot dead outside her residence in Sector-9 on May 15 afternoon. A CCTV footage showed that a motorcycle-borne attacker followed her and fired at her from close range after she parked her scooty outside her house during lunch hours.She was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The shocking daylight murder had created panic in the locality, prompting police to launch an intensive investigation. The SP had assured the family members to crack the case the earliest.
