It has been three years since the restaurant group Royal Nawaab took ownership of the Stockport Pyramid in Manchester, transforming the space into what is now the world’s largest curry house.
Since then, the restaurant has claimed to serve 10,000 diners weekly, in a building which features a 400-person banquet hall, private dining rooms and an 800-person capacity event space.
The three-tiered venue employs around 150 staff members, all racing to serve an array of South Asian delicacies from a menu which features over 140 dishes.
Decked out with parquet flooring, chandeliers and a gold and white colour scheme – it is no surprise that the 120 ft pyramid hosts as many as nine weddings and private events every weekend.

The 86,000 sq ft structure was built in 1992, as part wider development of pyramid-shaped buildings dubbed “Stockport’s Valley of the Kings”.
It remained occupied by the Co-operative Bank until 2017, after which the building fell into a state of disrepair, neglect and passing ownership.
In 2025, following a £15 million transformation by Mahboob Hussain, the owner of Royal Nawaab, the building re-opened as the institution it is known as today.
In its first year, the restaurant hosted more than 192,000 guests, including celebrities such as Tyson Fury.

Mahboob Hussain said he was “thrilled” to bring its brand to an “iconic symbol of Stockport“, and admitted he enjoyed taking on the challenges the building’s unsual shape brought.
He said: “I’ll be proud to have this as a Royal Nawaab.”
