The mysterious death of 33-year-old model and actress Twisha Sharma has taken a dramatic turn after a Bhopal court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of her absconding husband, lawyer Samarth Singh, prompting police to announce a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest.Twisha was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, barely months after marrying Samarth in December 2025. The couple had reportedly met through a dating app in 2024.A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Misrod ACP Rajneesh Kashyap is probing the case amid allegations by Twisha’s family that she was subjected to sustained dowry harassment, mental torture and ultimately murdered. The allegations have been denied by Samarth’s mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, who earlier secured anticipatory bail from the court.During Monday’s hearing, Samarth’s counsel opposed his arrest, claiming Twisha suffered from psychiatric issues and drug addiction.Twisha’s family strongly rejected the claims, describing her as cheerful and lively before marriage and alleging she lost nearly 15 kilograms due to harassment after wedding.Sessions Court Judge Pallavi Dwivedi rejected Samarth’s anticipatory bail plea after hearing arguments from both sides. Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, welcomed the order but said justice would only be served once both the husband and mother-in-law are arrested and punished. The controversy deepened after details from Samarth’s bail plea surfaced online. The plea alleged Twisha was undergoing psychiatric treatment and counselling and claimed her hands and feet trembled without narcotics. It also stated she had suffered a miscarriage and had briefly gone missing during a Delhi trip in April.Twisha’s family dismissed the allegations as an attempt to malign her image. Her cousin Meenakshi alleged the harassment intensified after Twisha lost her work-from-home job and became pregnant, claiming her husband refused to accept the child, reports PTI.The investigation has also exposed lapses in the initial police probe. ACP Kashyap confirmed that the rope allegedly used in the hanging was not sent to AIIMS Bhopal during the post-mortem examination and said action would be taken against the investigating officer responsible. While the preliminary autopsy report points towards death by hanging, Twisha’s family has alleged there were multiple injury marks on her body indicating possible murder and evidence tampering.Addressing the media after the court ruling, Giribala Singh claimed Twisha suffered from depression and psychological illness and described her death as a “nightmare” for the family. She also alleged Twisha’s parents had pushed her into the glamour industry at a young age and had not visited her for months before her death.Meanwhile, Twisha’s body has remained in a Bhopal mortuary for five days as her family demands a fresh and independent post-mortem examination at AIIMS Delhi. On Jattvibeday, her relatives staged a protest outside the residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, alleging the local investigation had been compromised.PTI inputs
