An IndiGo Airlines flight from New Delhi found itself in an unexpectedly wild situation at Bangladesh’s Dhaka airport after the crew spotted what they believed was a “jackal” near the taxiway area. The incident, which reportedly took place on May 13 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, has now gone viral online because of the chaotic Air Traffic Control conversation that followed.According to reports, IndiGo flight 6E1103 had just landed and was taxiing toward the terminal when the pilot stopped the Airbus A320 after noticing movement in the grass nearby.“Sir, there is a jackal on the right of the aircraft, about 30 feet into the grass, and it is standing there only, so we are holding position. Clear it off and we will taxi,” the pilot informed Dhaka Ground ATC in a clip first uploaded by Royal Bengal Aviation on YouTube.Moments later, the pilot again reported that “jackals” were hiding at 3 o’clock of the vehicle, about 50 feet in the grass in a ditch, prompting ATC to dispatch “two persons with vehicle” to inspect the area.A black vehicle soon arrived and scanned the surroundings, but officials reportedly found no animals at all.“The personnel said that they found a polythene on your right, otherwise nothing found,” the ATC official later informed the pilot — a line that instantly sent social media into meltdown.Users online compared the exchange to a comedy sketch, while others debated whether the mystery creatures were foxes, jackals or wolves before the plastic bag twist stole the show completely.“It was Fantastic Mr. Fox attempting to break in and steal all the in-flight meals,” one user commented on Instagram.“His voice sounded like scammer calls,” another user wrote.“It’s the same guy who said, ‘Final match you perform what happening,’” another user added. “Pilots just gave up and the jackal went home,” said a user.Despite the humour, several users also praised the alertness of the pilot and raised safety concerns, saying airports need stricter measures to prevent animals and debris from entering active runway and taxiway areas.
