Fresh espionage allegations against China have surfaced after independent blogger Jennifer Zeng claimed that a senior Chinese military officer disguised herself as a waitress during a state banquet attended by US President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk in Beijing.Zeng, who had earlier made controversial claims linking the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, alleged in a series of social media posts that one of the servers standing behind Musk at the banquet was actually Major Cheng Cheng, an active-duty Chinese military officer.Sharing images from the banquet, Zeng claimed photographs of the same women in military uniform were circulating widely on Chinese social media. She alleged that the woman identified as Cheng Cheng was an elite battalion commander who had reportedly helped draft operational manuals for China’s military ceremonies. In another post, Zeng further claimed that the officer may have been carrying “a gun or something” concealed beneath her dress during the event. The claims, however, remain unverified.Neither the Chinese government nor Chinese state media has responded to the allegations. Independent confirmation of the identity of the woman in the photographs has also not emerged.Zeng is known for making allegations against Beijing’s intelligence and political operations. In 2023, she had claimed that the CCP orchestrated Nijjar’s killing with the aim of creating diplomatic friction between India and Western nation, an assertion that was never substantiated publicly.Security experts have long maintained that China has historically employed covert intelligence methods against foreign political, diplomatic and business targets. Past controversies have included allegations surrounding suspected Chinese operative Christine Fang, who was accused of cultivating ties with American politicians in California.💥Explosive! We found out who she is, too!At the CCP’s state banquet honoring President Trump @realDonaldTrump, standing next to Elon Musk @elonmusk was Cheng Cheng (程诚), a member of the Chinese Communist Party, a battalion commander in the PLA Honor Guard Ceremonial Brigade… https://t.co/Xsrk4QKuiM pic.twitter.com/1SMKJI1Mye— Inconvenient Truths — Jennifer Zeng Reports (@jenniferzeng97) May 20, 2026
