The CBSE’s re-evaluation mechanism has come under intense criticism as complaints over crashing website, failed payments and blurry scanned answer sheets are rising. Now, students are reportedly facing fluctuating re-evaluation fees on the official portal.Screenshots shared on social media showed the re-evaluation fee changing drastically from Rs 1 to Rs 69.67, Rs 8,000, and in some cases Rs 69,420 per subject.While the CBSE has not released a public clarification on the fluctuations in unusual fee amounts, it has extended the last date for obtaining scanned photocopies of Class XII answer books to May 24.Students will also get up to two days after receiving the scanned copy to apply for verification/re-evaluation.Several students on social media said that despite paying for scanned copies of answer sheets, the download section had not appeared on the portal.Many students have also reported login failures, frozen pages, payment deductions without confirmation and repeated “service unavailable” errors.This comes days after the CBSE announced on X that the portal for applying for scanned copies of Class 12 answer books was “fully functional.”
