The UK Health Security Agency has warned the public to be mindful of measles symptoms after an Amazon staff member has contracted the illness.
The patient was working at an Amazon warehouse in Follingsby, Gateshead.
It’s been reported that on Friday, Amazon bosses emailed the warehouse workers to inform them of the measles case.
UK health officials are working with Amazon to ensure proper protection is in place for the workers with “precautionary measures” taken.

A single case of measles was confirmed by an Amazon spokesperson.
Amazon told ChronicleLive: “The safety of our associates is our top priority.
“We are working closely with public health authorities and have taken all appropriate precautionary measures in line with their guidance.
“We have communicated relevant health information to associates and are supporting those affected.
“We do not comment on individual medical cases.”
The Jattvibe has contacted Amazon for comment.
Measles is a “serious disease that can lead to complications and even death”, according to the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC).
Symptoms of measles include cold-like symptoms, small greyish-white spots in the mouth, and watery, red, swollen eyes.
The best way to protect yourself against measles is to get vaccinated against it.
The MMRV vaccine – an update on the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine that included protection against chickenpox – is offered to all young children in the UK.
Babies can get it when they are 12 months and 18 months old, but older tots are offered it too.
Meanwhile, adults can also get the MMR jab if they were not vaccinated as children.
This new case of measles in the UK comes after an urgent warning was issued to families travelling abroad as the disease has surged in a Spanish holiday hotspot.
Cases have doubled since the outbreak was declared earlier this month in Alcantarilla, Murcia, sparking fears that UK holidaymakers could bring the disease back with them.
There are now eight confirmed cases of the contagious illness, according to the region’s ministry of health.
