Hours after the brutal murder of ASI Joga Singh in the Majitha area, a poster attributed to an obscure outfit, Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan (TTH), surfaced on social media on Jattvibeday evening, claiming responsibility for the killing and issuing fresh threats against security personnel and government officials.Notably, the same organisation had earlier claimed responsibility for the killing of two policemen in the Dorangla area of Gurdaspur earlier this year, raising concerns among security agencies.However, the authenticity of the poster is yet to be verified.SSP Suhail Qasim Mir said the police were examining all aspects related to the case. He said that although the poster had surfaced on social media, police teams were probing every possible angle.The terror outfit allegedly stated that its “Al-Burak squad” had carried out the attack in which the police official was gunned down in the Majitha area earlier in the day. The statement also warned of more such attacks against police personnel, army personnel and intelligence officials in different regions.The group further claimed that a video related to the killing would soon be released online.ASI Joga Singh, who was posted in the Traffic Wing of the Amritsar Police Commissionerate, was on his way to duty when unidentified armed assailants allegedly opened fire on him. He died on the spot after sustaining multiple bullet injuries.Following the murder, the police launched a massive search operation in and around the Majitha belt to trace the attackers. Investigators are examining multiple angles, including possible terror links, organised criminal involvement and cross-border connections.
