But hours after Forest finished the Premier League season with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, Marinakis found himself in a scrap.

He was spotted with a ripped shirt and a bruise under his eye following a spat with Grigoris Dimitriadis, the nephew of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The pair, who were sitting in the VIP section, were seen having a heated confrontation before the EuroLeague basketball final even got underway.

And the tension built before Kostas Karapapas, the vice-president of Olympiacos, also got himself embroiled in the war of words.

Videos circulating on social media show Marinakis and Dimitriadis shouting at each other from opposite sides of a barrier, with security having to stand between them.

A person next to the Forest supremo then appeared to throw an Olympiacos scarf towards the Greek Prime Minister’s former secretary general.

And Marinakis was left with a torn shirt as well as a huge shiner under his eye following the fracas.

But the shipping magnate had the last laugh as Olympiacos, who he owns, notched a 92-85 win over Real Madrid.

Marinakis relinquished control of Forest in the final stages of the season in case they booked their place in the Champions League.

The Midlands outfit and Olympiacos would not have been able to feature in the competition at the same time if he was seen as having a decisive role at both clubs.

But Forest failed to book their spot after losing to Aston Villa in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Marinakis completed a City Ground takeover in May 2017 – seven years after gaining control of Olympiacos.

And he has spearheaded Forest into the Premier League despite having a ruthless edge.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche were all sacked by Marinakis this season, before Vitor Pereira maintained their top flight status.
