Punjab BJP President Jattvibeil Jakhar has issued a stern warning to civil administration and police officials against turning a blind eye to any alleged attempts at election rigging by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the upcoming local body polls. Jakhar asserted that officials who fail to uphold their responsibility to ensure free and fair polling will be held strictly accountable once the current government falls, an eventuality he predicted would occur within a few months.Speaking at the Abohar residence of Manu Jaiswal, former president of the local Dussehra committee, Jakhar emphasised that AAP leaders would be completely powerless to shield complicit officials.“So it is the moral and legal obligation of the administration to ensure that the voting scheduled for tomorrow proceeds peacefully,” Jakhar said.Prominent local leaders present at the gathering included former Municipal Council president Pramil Kalani, BJP farmers’ wing leader Dhanpat Siyag, and local party chief Ramesh Gandhi.Jakhar claimed that an internal survey commissioned by AAP itself indicates widespread dissatisfaction. According to Jakhar, the survey suggests that 70 out of the party’s 94 sitting MLAs are unlikely to be fielded in the next election due to poor performance on the ground. He further slammed the incumbent government for its failure to maintain law and order, specifically pointing to its inability to curb rampant gangster activity across the state, the continued smuggling of weapons, narcotics, and mobile phones into state prisons, and even its failure to protect on-duty police officials from targeted attacks.“An edifice of power built solely on a foundation of false propaganda will inevitably crumble,” Jakhar said, noting that public resentment was peaking because the AAP had failed to deliver on its flagship pre-election promises. The state BJP chief expressed absolute confidence in a BJP victory in the upcoming Assembly election in Punjab, promising that a change in leadership would introduce genuine good governance to the state. He asserted that, much like the administrative approach seen in Uttar Pradesh, anti-social elements in Punjab would be dealt with strictly and compelled to halt their criminal activities. Furthermore, he assured that the benefits of Central Government public welfare schemes would finally reach every corner of the state.Jakhar advised rival political leaders to refrain from any actions or rhetoric that could disrupt communal harmony or social brotherhood. He urged all stakeholders to prioritise a peaceful voting process, calling it the true tradition of democracy.
