The Punjab Government will hold a meeting on Wednesday for recommending the name of Director (Generation) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).The post has been vacant since November 2025. The appointment is important considering the state is entering the annual high power demand phase, which coincides with the paddy growing season. The committee headed by Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, Power Secretary Basant Garg and Chairperson of the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) will discuss the names of 25 applicants and make recommendations to the CM, who will take the final call.In March, while Sanjeev Arora was the Power Minister, qualifications for the post of Director (Distribution) were changed to allow engineers having no background of handling the power generation department to apply for the post. Of the 25 applicants, eight have not handled power generation for several years now, sources said.
