Faridkot Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rahul Chaba extended congratulations to Ajaypal Singh Dhaliwal, a non-resident Punjabi hailing from Kassam Bhatti village in Faridkot district, for conquering Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak.Dhaliwal was accompanied by Iqbal Singh Dhaliwal, Superintendent of Jail, during this celebratory occasion.Chaba lauded Dhaliwal’s achievement, stating that his hard work, dedication and unwavering determination have proven that Punjabis are reaching new heights in every field across the globe.He emphasised that this accomplishment brings immense pride not only to Faridkot but to the entire state of Punjab and the Punjabi diaspora worldwide.Dhaliwal, who currently resides in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, is a lawyer by profession. He revealed that he had been rigorously training for several years to achieve his dream of summiting Mount Everest.Although his attempt last year was unsuccessful, he persevered and successfully scaled the peak on May 20, making history.The DC highlighted that Dhaliwal has become the first Canadian Sikh to conquer Mount Everest, a fact that brings great honor to the entire Punjabi community.He further added that Dhaliwal has previously successfully climbed several other renowned mountains around the world. In addition to his mountaineering prowess, he is an outstanding marathon runner and has earned the prestigious “Iron Man” title.
