FORMER England striker Gabby Agbonlahor has revealed that he made the decision to retire after receiving transfer interest from Aberdeen.
The Aston Villa icon, 39, hung up his boots in 2018 following a 13-year spell at Villa Park.

He was 31 years old at the time and had been suffering from recurring calf issues.
Despite the injury problems, Agbonlahor considered the possibility of continuing his career.
However, he quickly changed his mind when Aberdeen came calling.
On the latest episode of In the Mixer – brought to you by Sky Bet – he said: “I finished my contract at Aston Villa and thought: ‘Let me just take my time on it.’

“Then I remember my agent phoning me – I’ve never said this before…
“He was like: ‘Aberdeen?’
“No disrespect to Aberdeen, but I put it in the satnav app and it said it was an eight-hour drive or something.
“So I sent it to him and I said: ‘I’m not sure this is going to work, it’s a bit far.’

“He laughed and I was like: ‘No, I think I’ll stop!’”
Agbonlahor ended his playing career having made 391 appearances for Aston Villa, with 86 goals and 46 assists.
He also spent brief loan spells at Watford and Sheffield Wednesday.
And on the international stage, he was capped three times by England at senior level.
