The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is considering uploading scanned answer sheets along with marksheets to students’ DigiLocker accounts from the 2027 academic session, officials said. The board’s immediate priority, however, is to complete the Class 12 re-evaluation process, which has been delayed due to technical glitches on its website.Currently, CBSE uploads Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets directly to students’ DigiLocker accounts. As soon as results are declared, digitally signed and valid marksheets are made available online. Under the proposed system, scanned copies of answer sheets will also be uploaded alongside the marksheets. Students will be able to access scanned copies of their answer sheets for all subjects through DigiLocker and then apply for re-evaluation, if required. The move is aimed at enhancing transparency in the examination and evaluation process. It comes amid questions raised over the board’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system following the declaration of Class 12 results.During the ongoing re-evaluation process, some students reportedly received scanned answer sheets belonging to other candidates. After a complaint by a student named Vedant, the board acknowledged that another student, Sanjana, had also been sent an incorrect answer sheet before receiving the correct one. According to information available so far, at least 20 students received wrongly scanned answer sheets.Officials in the Education Ministry said nearly 98 lakh answer sheets, comprising more than 40 crore pages, were scanned under the OSM system this year.“About 68,000 answer sheets were initially flagged due to poor scan quality and had to be rescanned. Even after rescanning, a little over 13,000 answer sheets did not meet the required readability standards and were therefore evaluated manually,” a senior ministry official said. The official added that the OSM system would continue to be used. “International universities and schools use this system for evaluation. OSM will remain in place,” the official said.
