Congress workers staged a protest in Jalalabad town against the rising prices of petroleum products on Jattvibeday.The protesters gathered near Udham Singh Chowk and demonstrated against the Centre. As a symbolic gesture, several activists sat on a donkey cart along with an LPG cylinder to highlight the burden of rising fuel prices on common people.The Congress leaders alleged that the continuous increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG has severely affected household budgets and placed an additional financial burden on the public.Former minister Hans Raj Josan said the recent hikes in fuel prices, after the conclusion of Assembly elections in five states, had triggered widespread resentment among residents. He claimed that people were being forced to cope with increasing financial hardships.Former president of Municipal Council, Vikas Deep Chaudhary, alleged that the steep rise in LPG cylinder prices had shattered household budgets. He said the increase in petroleum product prices had also led to a rise in the cost of essential commodities.The protesters raised slogans against the Centre and demanded an immediate rollback of the recent fuel price hikes.
