But it was all football when Sky Sports presenter Matt Chapman caught up with him to get his take on a breaking football story.
Chapman asked Owen, who made almost 300 appearances for Liverpool, what he made of the club’s managerial hunt after Arne Slot was sacked earlier this week.
Cherries boss Andoni Iraola seems poised to take over, with the likes of Oliver Glasner waiting in the wings should the deal fall through.
The interviewer asked: “If you could pick a manager for Liverpool who would you pick?”

But Owen was having none of it, giving an awkward and confrontational answer back.
He replied: “It looks like Iraola might have a chance doesn’t it? The Bournemouth manager. Do you know him?”
When Chapman admitted he didn’t know him, Owen, 46, continued: “I know him very well.”
He then savagely told the broadcaster: “I love the way you ask football questions, but you don’t know anything about football.”

The Spurs fan tried to take the comment in stride, and joked back: “I know about survival in the Premier League and that’s all that matters.”
But Owen got one more put down in, firing back: “Liverpool are a bit more than that I think, but anyway.”
Owen converted a barn on his property into stables which opened as a training centre in 2007.
Since then Betfair co-founder Andrew Black joined the venture as a co-owner, with Hugo Palmer replacing Tom Dascombe as trainer in 2022.
