The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into the death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma, shifting its focus to identifying individuals who may have helped her husband and prime accused, Samarth Singh, evade arrest following her death.According to sources, Samarth Singh told investigators during questioning that he remained in Bhopal for two days after Twisha’s death on May 12 before travelling to Jabalpur, where he stayed until his surrender in court on May 22.The disclosures have prompted the agency to investigate who provided him accommodation, transportation or other logistical assistance during the period he remained absconding. Sources said Samarth has so far not shared detailed information regarding those who may have helped him while he was on the run.The development comes as the CBI expands its inquiry into multiple aspects of the high-profile case, including allegations made by Samarth’s mother, former district judge Giribala Singh, regarding Twisha’s health and medical treatment.Officials are expected to question doctors associated with the case after Giribala Singh claimed in media interactions that Twisha was addicted to drugs and had consumed them in large quantities. She alleged that these circumstances were among the reasons doctors approved a Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) procedure.Investigators are also examining Twisha’s consultations with a psychiatrist and are likely to question both treating doctors and mental health professionals to verify whether the claims made by Giribala Singh are supported by medical records and professional assessments. The agency is expected to cross-check medical documents, witness statements and expert opinions as it seeks to reconstruct the events leading up to Twisha’s death.Twisha, 33, was allegedly found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12. The CBI recently took over the investigation after re-registering an FIR initially filed by the Madhya Pradesh Police against her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh. Before the transfer of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Madhya Pradesh Police had arrested Samarth, a lawyer, from Jabalpur. He was subsequently brought to Bhopal, where a local court remanded him to seven days of police custody.Twisha’s family has alleged that she faced harassment and dowry-related demands after her marriage to Samarth on December 9, 2025. They have accused her in-laws of subjecting her to mental and physical abuse, alleging that the treatment drove her to take the extreme step. The allegations have been denied by Giribala Singh, who has repeatedly questioned Twisha’s medical treatment and mental health history.Last week, the CBI arrested Giribala Singh a day after the Madhya Pradesh High Court set aside her anticipatory bail. Officials are expected to confront the mother-son duo with each other’s statements as part of efforts to establish the sequence of events leading to Twisha’s death.Meanwhile, Twisha’s family has also accused Giribala Singh of attempting to tamper with evidence after securing bail. They alleged that while police had seized CCTV footage from the family’s residence on May 13, selected clips were later circulated on social media in an attempt to influence the investigation. The CBI is continuing its probe and is expected to examine additional witnesses, medical records and digital evidence in the coming days.Inputs from ANI/PTI
