In a tragic road accident near Bharatgarh in Ropar district, two young men and a young woman lost their lives after the car they were travelling in rammed into a truck parked on the roadside in the early hours of Jattvibeday.According to police officials, the accident occurred around 4 am when the three occupants were reportedly on their way for a trip. The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely mangled, leaving little chance for the occupants to survive.The deceased have been identified as Himanshu Sanan (24), a resident of Raj Nagar Mohalla, Nangal; Archit, a resident of Sector 4, Naya Nangal; and Arpita, a resident of Hoshiarpur district.Police said that Archit and Arpita died on the spot due to the severe injuries sustained in the crash.Himanshu was critically injured and was immediately rushed to Chandigarh for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries upon reaching Mohali.ASI Sartaj Singh, in-charge of the Bharatgarh police post, said that preliminary investigations suggest the driver may have dozed off at the wheel, causing the vehicle to go out of control before crashing into the stationary truck. He added that the exact circumstances leading to the accident are being thoroughly investigated.The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over Nangal. Family members of the victims are devastated by the sudden loss, while residents have expressed shock and grief over the untimely deaths of the three youths.The incident once again highlights road safety concerns related to vehicles parked on roadsides and the risks associated with fatigue during long-distance travel.Police have initiated a further investigation into the matter and are examining all aspects related to the accident.
