A police employee was injured after an accidental firing from a .30 bore pistol during a routine weapon inspection at the Arms Branch in the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Law and Order) office in Amritsar on Monday.According to preliminary information, a man had arrived at the Arms Branch to get his licensed weapon inspected. During the verification process, the on-duty staff member was examining the firearm when it reportedly went off unexpectedly.The bullet struck police employee Narayan Dass, causing injuries.The incident triggered panic at the premises, following which the injured employee was rushed to a private hospital. Doctors said he is undergoing treatment and remains under medical supervision.Police authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident to determine whether the firing occurred accidentally or if there was any negligence in following standard operating procedures. Officials are currently refraining from making detailed comments.
