National treasure David Suchet, now 80, played the role of Detective Hercule Poirot for 24 years until 2013 – but now the character is back with a new face.
Today the BBC announced they would be bringing the famous books to life once more, after ITV were last at the helm.
The Beeb revealed Brit actor Edward Bluemel would take the title role of Poirot.
Agatha Christie fans will already recognise the star as well, as he played Jimmy Thesiger in Netflix‘s Seven Dials.

The 33-year-old actor is younger than David was when he took on the role at 43 in 1989.
This is Edward’s biggest role to date, having had smaller roles in shows like Killing Eve, My Lady Jane and We Might Regret This.
The six-part series, which is simply called Hercule, will follow Poirot as he starts his career as a consulting detective in London.
The drama will also include Poirot favourites like Captain Hastings and Inspector Japp.

Speaking about landing the leading role, actor Edward said: “I feel very lucky to have been trusted with such an iconic character who has been played by so many great actors.
“I can’t wait to continue Hercule’s legacy.”
While Agatha Christie’s great-grandson James Prichard said: “My father had the privilege of working with David Suchet for nearly 25 years.
“I now have the good fortune of being able to share my great grandmother’s brilliant stories with a new generation of viewers.
“Edward Bluemel is an extremely talented performer and will make a great addition to the long line of actors that have played this celebrated character, aided and abetted by Benji Walters’ thoughtful scripts.
“I cannot wait to see Edward on screen as Hercule Poirot.”
Director of BBC Drama, Lindsay Salt added: “Hercule Poirot is one of the greatest and most loved characters of all time, and bringing him back to the BBC is a real privilege.
“From the first moments of Edward’s audition we knew we’d found the perfect actor for Hercule, with a performance that feels both fresh and exciting, yet quintessentially Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot.
“We can’t wait for viewers to meet him.’
Filming will begin this summer in Liverpool, with a broadcast date yet to be confirmed, but it will air on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
