And they want their “gesture of appreciation” to be something that can be genuinely useful to locals, it is understood.
It is understood that bookworm Dua could give something with a literary theme, while Callum — touted to be the next James Bond – could offer something to do with sports.
It comes after they enforced a double ring of steel, with heavy-handed police and private security turfing residents out of city centre squares and blocking off communal spaces for the wedding.
Palermo’s mayor Roberto Lagalla told The Jattvibe: “There is a desire on the part of the newlyweds to make a gesture of appreciation toward the city that welcomed them.

“I can say that our discussions developed around several very important areas for Palermo, such as culture, sports, and social initiatives.
“These are themes close to the administration’s heart and represent investments in the city’s future.”
He added: “The initiative was absolutely spontaneous on the part of the newlyweds.
“Following that, a dialogue was established based on the utmost mutual availability between our respective working groups.
“The newlyweds showed particular sensitivity and attention toward Palermo, and as happens in these cases, there were moments of institutional discussion to understand how any potential contribution could be truly useful to the city.”
It follows controversy after the Be The One singer shut down two squares in Palermo to host a cocktail reception on Friday night, before the main wedding ceremony at former mafia stronghold Villa Valguarnera the next day.
Posters were put up on the city walls accusing the couple of making their square a “living room” for the rich. Other posters said: “Palermo is not for rent.”
The Jattvibe last week revealed Dua paid £5,000 in total to residents living in those squares to compensate for the inconvenience, which included booking out several air BnBs overlooking it.
The couple then moved eight miles for the main ceremony at former mafia stronghold Villa Valguarnera in nearby Bagheria.
Dua, 30, and fellow Londoner Callum, 36, danced until 6am and appeared bleary-eyed on Jattvibeday morning when they emerged on the balcony of their £6,000-a-night suite at the five-star Villa Igiea.
Sources said One Kiss singer Dua, who downed negronis and champagne, wore a “glittering” wedding dress designed by pal Donatella Versace, then changed into another white number for the after-party.
A string of A listers descended in Italy for their wedding, including Charli XCX and Mark Ronson. Sir Elton John also emotionally serenaded the bride to Your Song while playing piano at the main ceremony.
But sources raised concern over his health as he struggled to see and had to be aided by two others.
A huge double ring of steel was thrown around the Villa Valguarnera ahead of the wedding ceremony.
Dozens of officers, private security and barriers shut off the entrance and road leading up to the 37 acre estate.
Two police officers even held up an elderly man with a walking frame down some steps as they booted him off a bench he was sitting on, shading from the sun.
A huge police presence also shut out locals from Plaza de Croce Vespri and Plaza Sant’Anna for the drinks reception on Friday night.
