Original Blues was founded back in 1985 but will now say goodbye after entering into voluntary liquidation on June 4.

The retailer provided the UK market unique and “unrivalled” cotton knitwear for 41 years.

The brand has ceased trading with manufacturing having been wound down.

According to The Gazette, Neum Insolvency Ltd have been appointed as liquidators amid Original Blues’ closure.

The Original Blues website has already been shut down and is now password protected.

Known for its Fair Isle and nautical designs, Original Blues clothing was made from 100 per cent cotton using Indigo dye.

“Every piece in our Original Blues collection has been conceived and created by our own in-house design team whose inspiration is drawn from the natural world, in particular nautical and marine themes,” the Original Blues website previously stated.

“So we can offer you an unrivalled range of unique, top quality knitwear incorporating a host of innovative and imaginative designs, textures and patterns,” the company, which handmade all its stock in England.

The closure follows various other struggling clothing retailers forced to enter into administration or scale back stores in recent years.

It was recently announced that handbag designer, Radley, would disappear from high streets.

Meanwhile, LK Bennett was forced to close all of its UK stores earlier this year.
