A retired bank employee on Thursday donated Rs 25.51 lakh from his life savings to the Army Central Welfare Fund, after his plans for a world tour with his wife were upended by her death.According to a release by the Defence PRO Nagpur, Shrikant Sahasrabuddhe presented a cheque for Rs 25.51 lakh to Major General Navtej S Sohal, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding, Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area, at a brief ceremony here.It said this donation is earmarked for the Indian Army Central Welfare Fund, which provides financial assistance and welfare support to serving soldiers, war widows, disabled personnel and families of martyrs.Sahasrabuddhe had originally saved the amount with plans to travel the world with his wife, but the couple’s travel plans ended after she passed away.With his children well settled, he and his family decided to donate the savings for a worthy cause, the release said, adding that his generous contribution sets an example worth emulating.
