Rashford, 28, enjoyed 12 months in the Catalan sunshine, but was blindsided by Anthony Gordon, who swooped to complete his Camp Nou move.
The former Newcastle man secured the switch to the five-time European champions in a deal worth more than £69.3m.
Rashford stunned Barca fans with his 28 goal contributions in 49 games across the 2025/26 season.
But there has reportedly been a lack of formal talks between Barcelona and Man Utd, and no developments from other parties until recently.

The Bundesliga champs have been forced to cross Gordon off their wishlist while they have allowed Nicolas Jackson to return to Chelsea.
