Fresh violence in Manipur as mob attacks SP office in Kangpokpi district




NEW DELHI: In a fresh incident of violence, a mob attacked the office of the Superintendent of Police in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Friday evening. The attack was over the officer’s alleged failure to remove central force from Saibol village bordering Imphal East district.Several people were injured in the attack, news agency PTI reported.Kuki groups have staged protests following the reported use of force by security personnel against women in Saibol village on December 31.Demonstrators hurled stones and various objects at the office, expressing their discontent over the ongoing presence of central forces, specifically the BSF and CRPF, in the village, according to an official.Several police vehicles parked inside the Superintendent of Police office compound sustained damage during the incident.
