The Georgian pile is set in 1,704 acres and comes with 31 other houses and has its own private racecourse for horse-mad Geri.

A source said: “Geri and Christian know all about Edgcote, living so near. To live there would be a dream.

“They have been to look round several times and are desperate to own the property.”

The Horners, who have two kids, currently live in a £9.2million mansion around five miles from Edgcote which is on the Northamptonshire-Oxfordshire border.

The source added: “Christian and Geri have had run-ins with local planning officers at their home so would welcome a move.

“They have viewed Edgcote and their agents have held discussions with owners to acquire the estate.”

Finding the cash will not be an issue. Christian, 52, reportedly got a payoff of up to £80million from F1 team Red Bull last year.

Stunning Edgcote House is on sale for the first time in nearly 100 years. It was used as the setting for Netherfield Park in BBC’s 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.

The current house was built between 1748 and 1754. It is described by estate agents Savills as “an exceptional example of a traditional English country estate”.

Shortly after the execution of Henry VIII’s statesman Thomas Cromwell it was bestowed on the King’s fourth wife, Anne of Cleves, as part of her divorce settlement.

Locals in The Hare and Hounds in Wardington, Oxon, which borders the estate, have been discussing their potential neighbours.

One joked: “It’ll be great to have a Spice Girl moving in. About time something interesting happened round here.”

THE history of the house stretches back nearly 1,000 years, taking in the Norman Conquest, Wars of the Roses, and the court of Henry VIII.

The main house has eight bedrooms — most with dressing rooms and en suites.
It also has a gun room, wine vault and pool.
A tree-lined drive is bordered by a lawn sloping to an 8.6-acre lake.
The 1,149-acre farm and equestrian facilities are a huge attraction for horse-nut Geri.
Two fully-equipped racing yards could accommodate more than 20 horses. The course hosts point-to-point meets.
Thirty-one other houses, cottages, and flats are spread throughout the 1,704-acre estate — including a traditional mill house.
