SCOTLAND fans were left panicking after their long-awaited return to football’s biggest stage was hijacked by a major technical fault.
The whole nation was on the edge of their seat as Steve Clarke’s heroes faced Haiti in their World Cup opener.

It has been 28 long years since the Tartan Army last featured in the tournament.
And the country erupted when John McGinn struck home to fire Scotland ahead.
But just moments later, pure joy turned to fear when the live TV coverage abruptly cut out.
Fans watching from homes and packed pubs up and down the country feared the worst as the footage went blank in the 38th minute.

Instead of the action on the pitch, a dreaded error screen featuring the World Cup logo flashed up on TVs.
It stayed there for around 20 seconds before coverage resumed as normal.
BBC commentator Liam McLeod quickly revealed that the broadcast blackout was a worldwide technical issue, rather than a blunder sole to the Beeb.
And puzzled punters were quick to flock to social media to double-check that they weren’t the only ones with the issue.

Writing on X, one fan said: “Absolutely class footage from the Scotland vs Haiti game!”
Another asked: “Why am I getting jump scared during Haiti vs Scotland game?”
A third said: “Haiti vs Scotland game decided to implode and show us the BBC screen of death.”
