As non-academic survey duties become a bone of contention between Punjab government and teachers, a viral advertising pamphlet claiming recruitment for DRUG Social Survey has been found to be fake by the Amritsar District Administration.Since Saturday, a fake pamphlet seeking recruitment/training of various individuals for survey work in Amritsar South from June 15 was being circulated on social media.The pamphlet claimed people will be hired for the posts of enumerators at a salary of Rs 65,000 to carry out door-to-door surveys in Amritsar South.On Monday, Jai Inder Singh, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar, has out rightly rejected the advertising as fake, claiming that the contents of the pamphlet are completely false and misleading.“No such recruitment is being done and the viral pamphlets are completely false. This looks like an attempt to defraud and mislead people,” said Jai Inder Singh.He further stated that the government is conducting a drug and socio-economic census, for which only government employees and employees of government-aided institutions have been engaged.“No services of any other individuals are being utilised for this survey, nor is any fresh recruitment being undertaken for the purpose,” he said.He appealed to the residents of Amritsar South as well as the general public to remain cautious of such advertisements, pamphlets or social media posts that claim recruitment for survey work by offering honorarium or monetary compensation. He emphasised that such advertisements are entirely fake and misleading, and people should not place any trust in them.He further warned that if any individual is found issuing such fake advertisements or spreading misleading information with the intention of misleading or defrauding the public, strict legal action will be taken against them in accordance with the law.
