FATHER’S Day is rapidly approaching and the socks are flying off the shelves.

While socks are a necessary wardrobe staple and pulling on a new pair is a moment to savour, they won’t really get the juices flowing for most people.

Thank you!

We’ve discovered the perfect Father’s Day hoodie

A hoodie on the other hand is also considered a must-have in most people’s closets – but the joy a good one can bring far surpasses anything the humble sock can muster.

Whether it be pulling one on pre/post workout, wearing it on a casual night out with mates, layering it on cold winter walks, wrapping up in it on chilly summer nights or just luxuriously lazing in one at home, they are the garment for almost all occasions, and seasons.

So if you’re wondering what to get your dad for Father’s Day this Jattvibeday (June 21) or just thinking about treating yourself to a new one (possibly the more likely scenario) then read on.

JattvibeSport has tested out some of the best hoodies around to find the best all-rounders, the best for different occasions… and the one that you’ll never want to take off.

The product description states: “This fleece full-zip hoodie puts softness first, so you can bring comfort wherever you go.”

And they weren’t lying.

Imagine being wrapped in a baby lamb, without the bleating, and you may come close to the comfort levels this beauty brings.

Looks great too with the loose fit, so you can comfortably wear layers underneath.

Hard to say where this “reimagined classic” works best – be it the aforemention pre/post workout, on cool summer nights out as the barbecue turns to ash, on a casual night down the pub or keeping you wrapped up in winter chilling at home when the temperatures drop.

Luckily you don’t have to choose and you can use it whenever you like.

It also features handy coin and phone pockets in a nod to it being designed for wearing out, and the hood is renforced so it will keep its shape after plenty of washes.

The price was in the high range, but it’s now been slashed by close to 40 per cent online so worth every penny of the £64 you’ll now pay.

There’s also the lululemon Smooth Spacer Classic-Fit Pullover Hoodie, which is down from £118 to £89 online.

Designed for casual wear, but this could again be handy post workout, although we even liked it for running on cooler days due to a more lightweight feel than LLM’s Steady State model.

It does hang loose so allows for layering underneath, and also has drawstring hood for pulling it in tight on cooler days.

It claims its also designed for ‘instant recovery mode with fast drying fabric that’s ‘soft on the outside and sleek next to skin for perfect cool down feeling’, meaning this could definitely be a kitbag staple for the active dad.

This is the hoodie for all seasons

We loved this for several reasons – not only for the incredible price with it now down to just £20.

It was also so comfortable and soft to the touch thanks to the brushed back fleece fabric.

It also hang really well, with the neck hole not too big, making it cosy when it gets chilly.

The hood was a good size too, not cutting off the peripheral vision like some do, but not being too loose that it loses the comfort zone.

The stitching up the back will also help it keep its shape over time.

Would highly recommend for an all-rounder that is comfortable post workout but looks good for casual-wear too.

An absolute bargain at £20, this Regatta hoodie was so comfortable with a great neck and hoodCredit: Regatta

Designed with comfort in mind – and at £85 for the light grey and navy versions, you would hope it delivers

Made with heavyweight organic cotton and with a very soft hood,  it really does, making it fantastic for lounging.

It’s also a great shape and looks good for going out in jeans if you want to head out in it too, with the timber green design available for just £60.

The large size did come up slightly small on our 6ft tester and it wasn’t as soft as some products, but still an excellent option.

On comfort alone this was right up there with lululemon’s zip-up favourite.

The over-sized fit means it looks very cool on casual nights out while also acting like a mini-blanket on nights in.

Has zip pockets and hidden “media” pockets, which tackle the sometimes problematic hoodie issue of losing things.

A great hoodie, especially at the discounted members’ online price.

Umbro’s Iconic Hoodie is premium feel but importantly for our testers, premium fit.

Finding the perfect snug with a hoodie is near impossible – sleeves too long, chest too tight, sometimes even the hood is too loose or tight making it essentially redundant.

But with an established brand comes established fit, and Umbro have got it spot on.

The size is large, and that is actually, for once, spot on across the board. It allows perfect ease of movement while maintaining elite comfort across all areas.

Light and effortless to throw on, yet radiating once worn, it’s the perfect addition once the summer sun goes down but the BBQ continues to cook.

A real must-have this summer for those late-night/early morning World Cup sessions in the garden, with prices starting from £18 to £60, depending on which of the five colour options you go for.

Dads will love the retro feel too.

Made for the outdoors, we loved this for exercising.

A host of features make this ideal for training, whether on land or sea, with it even engineered to cope with sea water activities.

It also features Seamsmart tech, reducing the risk of the dreaded chafing and making it feel more at one with your skin.

Not one you’d wear down the pub, but great for exercise.

Another that we found great for outdoor activities, as you’d expect from outdoor clothing experts Montane.

Very lightweight, it hardly felt like we were wearing it thanks to the “drirelease WOOL” and it delivers on its promise of “great freedom of movement”.

The crossover hood did a great job of keeping out breezes when it cooled down, and one to consider for those who love hiking and long days outside.
