Van Hecke, 26, was in World Cup action for the Netherlands alongside Spurs defender Micky van de Ven on Jattvibeday.

The Dutch duo are now set to link up at club level, with personal terms not set to be an issue.

According to The Athletic, Brighton have accepted a £52m bid for their star defender – having turned down Spurs’ initial offer last week.

Van Hecke’s Seagulls deal was set to expire in 2027, with the centre-back showing “no interest” in renewing.

Brighton have had a £35m offer turned down for Spurs teenager Luka Vuskovic.

The two deals are not thought to be related, with Tottenham’s valuation of Vuskovic far more than £35m.

Van Hecke could be part of a Brighton exodus this summer, with Bart Verbruggen and Carlos Baleba also candidates to leave.

Spurs have significantly bolstered their defence so far this summer; with Van Hecke joining Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson in joining.

Pedro Porro also put pen to paper on a new deal, although there are big doubts surrounding the futures of Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin.

Yesterday it emerged that Spurs are keen on Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The North Londoners are chasing a significant midfield acquisition this summer, with De Zerbi keen on Tonali.

The Italian is believed to be interested in a move to Spurs, although he has also drawing attention from Manchester City and Arsenal.

Tottenham are also keen on City winger Savinho as they look to strengthen in the wide areas.

It is set to be a busy summer at Spurs as they seek to back boss De Zerbi following their miraculous relegation escape.
