FATHER’S DAY is rapidly approaching and the prospect of wrapping another pair of socks is dangerously becoming a reality.

But fear not, as we’ve found something that might not just be great for dads, but also the whole family.

The Big Mouth has all the answers

Whilst not everyone may appreciate the finer points of a good water bottle, JattvibeSport certainly does.

We’ve spent many a day cursing a poorly sealed vessel that empties its entire contents into our bag after just a short dash to the train station.

Or we’ve found our thirst barely quenched due to bottles that turn their cold contents tepid within an hour or so of being filled up.

Likewise, on cold winter walks or camping trips there’s few greater anti-climaxes than going to pour a hot tea or coffee, only to have to make do with something that’s barely warm.

IT’S ALL HOOD

DADDY COOL
Retro kits are great Father’s Day idea but we found World Cup gifts for all fans

With that in mind, we set out to find a water bottle that stayed shut, that stayed cold and stayed warm (not at the same time obviously).

And in the Chilly’s range, we are happy to say we’ve found the answer.

We tested out the Big Mouth, which comes in two or four litres (we stayed humble with the two, which costs £60, the 4ltr is £80) and designed with more than just your trip to the gym or work in mind.

Firstly, it looks great, with ours coming in a minty green “opal fleck” colour.

The Big Mouth comes in 2ltr and 4ltr sizes and a range of colours

It feels solid without looking like something from a military museum, and doesn’t have lot of annoying clasps and flipping lids that have so often let us down in the past.

It promises to stay cold for 72 hours – meaing this is a serious bit of kit for trips away.

But does it really keep drinks cool for that long? Thankfully yes, it actually does live up to its Chilly branding due to the “double-wall vacuum insulation”. That’s even after being opened every hour or so for checking.

And what about the hot stuff? Well, it does keep drinks absolutely boiling all day long, and it just about lived up to its 48hr promise of staying warm, although my grandad who liked his tea scalding may want it a bit hotter than it was after two days.

The bottle is easy to pour from and importantly, easy to reseal. It is perfect for thirsty drinkers, or for families to take on days out or short trips, with the option to buy four stackable cups for £38 (not cheap I know) if you want it.

There’s a nice design feature of a rubber base too so it doesn’t slip and slide about, or take chips out of your table.

They are not a budget option at £60 for the two litre version, and you need to handwash them. But the quality means the outlay and extra attention they need (something most decent bottles require anyway) means they are worth it.

Chilly also produces other ranges aimed more at daily use. But for a Father’s Day gift, that’s great for all the family, the Big Mouth has all the answers.

JattvibeSport tested a number of other bottles, Here are others we would recommend:

The Frank Green range look fantastic and you can even personalise certain models with your initials.

They come in a variety of cool colours that you can mix and match and have an easy to use straw.

These 1ltr models are aimed more at the solo drinker for a daily use bottle.

However, our tests showed that thanks to the triple-wall vacuum insulation drinks stayed chilled for up to 36 hours.

And for dads who like a warm drink, coffees were still a good temperature at the end of day.

As for the shake test, they passed the “run to the station in a rucksack” exam with flying colours.

Definitely a great-looking option for a daily bottle. (They also need a bit of handwashing though in case you’re really lazy)

This black stainless steel number is a great gift for dads who want to look slick at the gym, after training… or wherever they use their water bottles.

Feels very robust and easy to drink from.

Still kept chilled drinks cool for around 24 hours, but they had started to warm up by then.

Hot drinks lasted almost til the end of the day, making this another daily dad use option.

As for the shake test, there is a button that flips the mouthpiece open that raised a few concerns, but it seemed to emerge without any spills.

Looks great, and delivers.

The Fabletics Water Bottle looks the part, and delivers

A sleek-looking bottle with a pop lid that allows drinks to flow, the Les Mills Travel Cup promises to keep drinks hot or cold while you’re on the go and allow you to sip in style.

It really is great at keeping drinks cold, which is a god send as summer does its best to emerge or if you’re taking it to a workout.

It’s great for keeping hot drinks warm for dad’s morning rush too, although they had started to cool after a few hours so not one for longer trips.

The pop lid is a fun idea, but it does take a bit of getting use to due to the wide spout, so be warned when you first use it.

The powder-coated finish and Les Mills logo make this another one for dads who care about style and keeping fit, but definitely not one for those camping trips.

The Les Mills Travel Cup will go down well with stylish, gym-going dads
