THIS is the horror moment a drunk driver smashes his car into a motorcyclist at a red light before he was sent flying.

The driver, who was double the legal limit, then flipped his motor and smashed into another car in Epsom, Surrey, last year.

The Toyota Yaris collided with the motorcycle at a crossroads on Epsom High Street just after 1am on May 11, 2025.

In shocking footage, the motorcycle can be seen slowing down as it approaches a red light.

Just moments later, the Toyota ploughs into the back of the rider at speed, sending him flying across the street.

Another clip then shows the heavily damaged motor after it had flipped and hit another car waiting at the junction with debris seen scattered across the road.

The motorcycle rider was left needing multiple surgeries following the crash and will require ongoing treatment.

Stunned bystanders watched on as the horror unfolded before rushing to their aid in the street.

Surrey Police said the driver of the car was seen by multiple witnesses fleeing the scene.

They said he had shown no concern for the motorcyclist and did not attempt to call the emergency services.

He only admitted to being the driver when officers approached him after he was identified by members of the public.

The man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving after failing a roadside breathalyser test.

Blood tests later revealed that he had been driving with 186 milligrams of alcohol per 100ml of blood at the time of the crash – more than twice the legal limit.

Eden Mander, 19, of Epsom, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on May 28.

He was handed a 16-month prison sentence for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

It will run alongside a four-month sentence for drink driving and he has also been disqualified from driving for three years.

Sergeant Adam Pegler said: “This incident serves as a reminder of how dangerous drink driving is.

“It is fortunate no one was killed but the victim has a long road to recovery – someone who was simply on their way home from work, whose life was changed because of another person’s selfish and careless actions.

“I would urge anyone who would consider drink driving to remember this case and think twice before putting themselves and other people at risk.”
