Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday held talks with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, with both sides stressing the need to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas of security, particularly counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics.The meeting, held in New Delhi, focused on enhancing collaboration between the two countries to combat terrorism, curb the trafficking of narcotics and illicit drugs, strengthen border security and bring criminals to justice.In a post on X after the meeting, Shah said he had a detailed discussion with the US envoy on further strengthening India-US cooperation in the security domain.“Met US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi today. Had a detailed discussion on further strengthening cooperation between India and the US in the area of security, particularly in counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics,” Shah said.He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India remained firmly committed to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and ensuring that the people of both countries benefit from the growing bilateral relationship. Ambassador Gor described the meeting as “excellent” and said the discussions were fruitful.“Had an excellent meeting with Home Minister Shah. We had a fruitful discussion on enhancing collaboration to combat terrorism, shield our people from narcotics and illicit drugs, secure our borders and jointly bring criminals to justice in both nations,” the US envoy said.The meeting comes amid increasing strategic convergence between New Delhi and Washington and continuing efforts by the two countries to expand cooperation in security and law enforcement.
