But for Fifa World Cup official Youri Djorkaeff the action wasn’t exciting enough to keep him awake.

Djorkaeff, 58, was seen napping behind Fifa president Gianni Infantino just under an hour into the game.

The clip went viral on social media, with one fan saying: “Djorkaeff enjoys Spain’s match the way my father enjoys the Saturday western right after lunch.”

A second said: “Youri mate wake up you’re on telly.”

A third added: “The Spaniards have slipped into their pyjamas, so much so that Youri Djorkaeff is falling asleep.”

Djorkaeff won the World Cup with France in 1998, and made a total of 82 caps while scoring 28 goals across his international career.

In his club career he starred for the likes of Monaco, Strasbourg, Inter Milan before heading to England to turn out for Bolton and Blackburn in the Premier League in the latter stages of his career.

Djorkaeff played 87 games for Bolton in total over three seasons, earning cult status as he scored 21 goals for Wanderers.
