But why not save some cash and use the humble breakfast cereal to make your own cheap treats? Here’s how . . .
CORNFLAKE BROWNIES: Melt 100g butter and 200g dark chocolate, beat in three eggs, around 175g sugar and 50g plain flour.
Pour into a lined tin and bake at around 180C for 25 minutes.
Then gently heat 100g butter, 100g golden syrup and 75g caster sugar in a pan and stir in 100g Cornflakes.

Spread over the cooled brownie mix and pop back in the oven for a few minutes until crispy.
CRUNCHY COOKIES: Cream 200g butter with 60g sieved icing sugar, then mix in 250g plain flour.
Add a few handfuls of Asda Honey Nut Cornflakes, £1.15 per pack, to your dough.
Roll into balls, flatten and bake in the oven on low heat for around 15 minutes or until golden.

ICE TREAT: Try Aldi’s latest cornflake recipe — mix 500ml milk, 60g brown sugar, two large eggs, 2tsp vanilla extract and a pinch of salt in a large bowl.
Stir in 375g Cornflakes and pour into a baking dish.

Bake at 190C for around 35 minutes, covering the dish with foil once the top browns.
Serve with ice cream for a bargain dessert the family will love.
HONEY NUT TART: Pick up a pack of Tesco pre-rolled shortcrust pastry, £1.35.
Line a tart tin with your pastry and blind bake for around 15 minutes on low heat.
For the filling, gently melt 75g salted butter and 100g golden syrup then stir in 225g of Tesco Honey Nut Cornflakes, £1.10.
Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam over the pastry base, pile on the sticky mixture and bake for ten minutes.
Leave to cool before slicing.
CEREAL MILK LOLLIES: During this week’s heatwave, try these tasty ice lollies.

Soak Honey Nut Cornflakes in 300ml milk and 100ml double cream for an hour and then pour into lolly moulds — £3 at Ikea — and freeze.
